Another step into the 70s with my latest scarf on Etsy. Blow the dust off your platforms and feel that clinging thigh and loose around the calves sensation that is the flare in all its majesty… Introducing the 7 stripe rainbow pride scarf. After the pink stripe was dropped due to fabric supply issues, Gilbert Baker’s pride flag consisted of 7 colours, each given their own meaning by Baker:
Red – life
Orange – healing
Yellow – sunlight
Green – nature
Turquoise – magic/art
Royal Blue – harmony/serenity
Purple – spirit
There is a pleasing symmetry to this design – the deep green of nature surrounded on each side – first by life, healing and sunlight, and then on the other side by magic & art, harmony & serenity, and spirit. For me the green nature stripe represents the underlying truth – we are what we are – sexuality is not a choice but an integral part of our identity.
It seems a shame to lose the colour representing art – so important as part of the Pride parades. I have restored all of the 7 colours of the pride rainbow in this scarf, which handily makes it ideal to protect your face in cold weather – it is approx. 26cm wide (10 inches) so it has enough width and structure to wrap up over your face to protect you from the elements, and approx 150cm (59 inches) long, enough to wrap around your neck, or tuck into your coat.
You can customise your scarf to be as individual as you are, choosing from a selection of plain colours of anti-pill polar fleece: white, black, pink, red, orange, yellow, green, turquoise, royal blue and purple.
You could choose the glamour of leopard or the rugged – but still very snuggly camouflage, both anti pill polar fleece.
And then for those who like a bit of positivity with their rainbows, you can choose the blue sky clouds kawaii backing, turquoise with while fleece clouds appliqued on. This gives the clouds a lovely puffiness, floating on a turquoise sky.
