The latest addition to RainbowShed on Etsy is this gorgeously snuggly 8 stripe rainbow scarf. I designed this scarf inspired by the original gay pride flag designed by Gilbert Baker back in 1978 for the San Francisco Pride Parade. Gilbert Baker has encouraged people to bring back the original design, which includes hot pink and turquoise, as he gave a specific meaning to each of the colours:
Hot Pink – sexuality
Red – life
Orange – healing
Yellow – sunlight
Green – nature
Turquoise – magic/art
Royal Blue – harmony/serenity
Purple – spirit
It seems a shame to lose the colours representing sexuality and art – so important as part of the Pride parades. I have restored all of the 8 colours of the pride rainbow in this scarf, which handily makes it ideal to protect your face in cold weather – it is approx. 29cm wide (11.5 inches) so it has enough width and structure to wrap up over your face to protect you from the elements, and approx 150cm (59 inches) long, enough to wrap around your neck, or tuck into your coat.
You can customise your scarf to be as individual as you are, choosing from a selection of plain colours of anti-pill polar fleece: white, black, pink, red, orange, yellow, green, turquoise, royal blue and purple.
You could choose the glamour of leopard or the rugged – but still very snuggly camouflage, both anti pill polar fleece.
And then for those who like a bit of positivity with their rainbows, you can choose the blue sky clouds kawaii backing, turquoise with while fleece clouds appliqued on. This gives the clouds a lovely puffiness, floating on a turquoise sky.
